As befits its history, Moffat has a good range of local events.

Moffat Weekend of Music & Song - Second Weekend in April :
Third annual event was held April 11th to 13th 2008. Centred around the Annandale Arms Hotel, the Black Bull Hotel and the Buccleuch Hotel. With concert on the Saturday night at The Little Theatre featuring Hilary Bell and the Threlfel Trio.

1000-Duck Race, Raft Race, Fun for all the Children - Bouncy Castle - Face-Painting - Clown - Disco.

Moffat Rootes Classic Car Rally - Last weekend in June :
Open to all makes of classic cars. Scenic Run, historic competition road run, vehicle display, a ceilidh and massed pipe bands>.

Moffat Gala Week - Second Week in July :
Held in the same week as the Glasgow Fair. Includes the crowning of the Gala Queen, the choosing of the Shepherd and his Lass and a procession.

Held in and around Moffat.

The Border Gathering - First Weekend in August :
Held annually at Dumfries, easily reached by car or bus from Moffat. See website at http://www.bordergathering.co.uk

Moffat Art Exhibition - Second and Third Weeks in August :
Annual Exhibition of paintings, prints and drawings by local artists - plus jewellery and cards. Teas and home baking available.
18th to 25th August in 2008. Open every day at the Old Well Theatre between 10:30 am and 4:30 pm. Admission FREE.

Galloway Country Fair - Second Weekend in August :

Moffat Show - Last Saturday in August :
Held on 30th August 2008 at Kerr Park, Beattock Road, Moffat. A small country agricultural show started in the 1940s or earlier. May date its ancestry back to the old 'Hiring Fairs' and livestock sales held in Moffat for many centuries. Contact Secretary on Tel : 01461 800217.

Moffat Walking Festival - First Weekend in October :

Moffat's Christmas Festival - End of November :
Many and varied entertainments all round the town - from Handbell Ringers to a Jazz Quartet. Mark the date in your diary and watch this space for further information from mid-September.
