Fishing for Fun ...

John McMyn set up Kirkhouse Fishery in Spring 2000, with a large 4 acre fishing loch stocked with Rainbow Trout. The fishery is on the Solway Coast and overlooked by the Criffel, an Area of Special Scenic Value. When visiting South West Scotland, you can come to us for top quality fly fishing at a sensible price. We are developing the potential for disabled access - call us for current details.

Attractions Nearby ...

Kirkbean is very close to the John Paul Jones Cottage at Arbigland, where the Father of the American Navy was born. The Criffel overlooks this coast, providing an excellent walk up to one of the best views in South West Scotland. Also nearby is Sweetheart Abbey, where the last Princess of Galloway, Dervorguilla, was buried beside the heart of her husband. Mabie Farm Park, closer to Dumfries, is an excellent day out for youngsters and for quiet walks. Those who like their beer should go to the Steamboat Inn at Carsethorn, those keen on golf will find six courses within ten miles, notably Solway Links at East Preston Farm, Southerness.
