Meiklewood Farm :
Traditional Georgian farmhouse with spacious rooms. Meiklewood is a family-run beef and sheep farm with Pedigree Galloway and Saler cattle. Centrally situated for touring South West Scotland. We welcome visitors to take walks to the top of the farm where the Isle of Man can be seen on a clear day. There is wild life such as ducks, swans, badgers and the odd fox. The River Tarff runs through the farm where brown trout can be caught and the odd salmon. Mountain bikes can be hired to take advantage of the side roads within easy reach of our farm. Loch Ken and the Galloway Forest Park is within easy reach of a bike ride! Golf and a Golf range is only four miles away and can be arranged for any guests. Enjoy a traditional Scottish breakfast including eggs from our hens and fresh homemade bread, marmalade and jams before setting out for your day.

The Lounge

Accommodation :
Accommodation consists of one double/family, one twin-bedded and one single room and two bathrooms. Heated throughout. Packed lunches are available and dinner if previously requested. Bedtime drinks are available in the lounge with homebaking. Colour television in lounge with Sky Digital facility.

Local Attractions :
Meiklewood is situated near the A75 road between Carlisle and Stranraer. We are 25 miles from Dumfries where ROBERT BURNS worked and lived. 6 miles from Castle Douglas Food Town and 4 miles from the lovely little fishing town and Artists' centre of KIRKCUDBRIGHT. Only 2 miles away is the DAVID COULTHARD MUSEUM (formula l racing driver) and KIRKCUDBRIGHT WILD LIFE PARK (four miles away). Also, 6 miles away is CREAM O'GALLOWAY luxury icecream head-quarters situated at Rainton Farm, near Gatehouse-of-Fleet where there are lots of activities to "while away" the day for young and old. As well as these attractions, we have the natural beatiful coast lines and beaches, forest roads and trails, castles and just ''wonderful scenery !''

Meiklewood is beside the A75 road from Carlisle to Stranraer, so is in an excellent position for visiting the rest of Dumfries and Galloway. For more information, please see :- Galloway Forest Park, The Machars, Kirkcudbright & Gatehouse and Dalbeattie & Castle Douglas.

How To Find Us :
Meiklewood Farm is just off the A75 near the junction to Ringford Village, (A762) six miles west of Castle Douglas. When coming from the east and you see the sign to the right to Ringford Village, stay on the A75 for another l00 yards and you will see our farm on the left hand side. Click on the map image for a map of the area.

Maps of Dumfries and Galloway can be found in the Where We Are page.
