Scenes of Portpatrick... You can enjoy the scenic walks along the clifftops or visit the nearby Logan Botanical Gardens, one of many gardens in the area. The Southern Upland Way starts just about 100 yards from our front door. Portpatrick was the filming location for Two Thousand Acres of Sky on BBC 1. The island scenes were filmed down the coast at Port Logan, about 10 miles to the south. Built to a design by Thomas Telford, the harbour at Port LOgan was proposed as a replacemernt for Portpatrick, but the extra distance by land made it unpopular. For some time Irish cattle boats used to land their cargoes there, but now only a handful of leisure craft use the silted-up harbour. Discounted Golf Concessions :Visitors to Braefield get concessionary rates at the nearby Portpatrick (Dunskey) Golf Club and the Wigtownshire County Golf Club at Glenluce and the Stranraer Golf Club.
